You may have recently heard the news of a scientific finding which links tanning beds and ultraviolet radiation to a top cancer risk category. A new analysis of about 20 studies by the World Health Organization is classifying the ultraviolet radiation generated by tanning beds as "probably carcinogenic," and just as deadly as arsenic and mustard gas. In other words, it's a definite cause for cancer....i.e. as cigarrettes are to lung cancer...
I will post links for these stories below, but the most alarming issue is the fact that our children now are at a greater risk. In truth, the study found that the risk of skin cancer jumps by 75 percent when people start using tanning beds before age 30, with teenagers being the most susceptible.
Having had a personal family history of cancer, the creation of Smart Bronze has literally been a labor of love for me. I am personally very passionate about skin health and providing a safe, smart alternative to UV tanning. Being a mom myself, I know how much we all want the best for our kids, and strive to keep them safe and protect their health. Teens, on the other hand, sometime tend to be more worried about fitting in with their peers, than worrying about staying safe. Personal appearance plays a huge role in 'fitting in' and their self esteem, and tanning is usually a big part of that. I strive to make airbrush tanning as affordable as I can for our teens in hopes of making a positive impact on their self esteem in the short term, and their health and well being for the long term.
In light of these new alarming discoveries by health officials, Smart Bronze is offering our teen tanners a safe-tan discount. If you show your student ID, you can tan for only $29. Teen tanning memberships start as low as $79 per month.
